e-Taalim: Partnership with ASK
e-Taalim has recently established a partnership with the international Research Unit on Advanced Learning Technologies and Services for Education and Learning (ASK) in Greece. ASK, as part of the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus in Greece, has been conducting research on Advanced Learning Technologies and Services for Education and Learning for 10 years. This prestigious unit was founded in 2000 by Prof. Demetrios G. Sampson, Associate Professor at the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus and Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Learning Technology.
As media partner, e-Taalim will promote the activities and projects undertaken by ASK including international events such as the International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies (ICALT) which is held this year in Sousse, Tunisia 5-7 July.
ASK will provide the necessary information for e-Taalim’s journalists about their projects and any significant emerging activities. A banner exchange has been operated this week on both Web sites and both institutions are highly motivated to collaborate in joint projects in the near future.
ASK’s main achievements
The main achievements of ASK during the past ten (10) years, in the above areas can be summarized as follows:
- Participation in 36 R&D projects (15 EC funded Projects, 10 National Projects, 11 Industrial Subcontracts) attracting total external funding at the range of 5 Million Euro.
- More than 206 scientific publications in book chapters, journals and conference proceedings, with at least 652 known citations (with h-index 16).
- Scientific World Leadership in the field of Technology-enhanced Learning, with Co-Editorship of the Educational Technology and Society Journal, (one of the top research journals in the field based on its impact factor) and Co-Chairship of major international conferences on Learning Technologies, such as IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies
- Active participation in European and International Centers of Excellency such as, IEEE Computer Society Learning Technologies Technical Committee, CEN/ISSS Learning Technlogies Workshop and the IMS Global Learning Consortium, Inc.
