The BETT show
BETT is the world’s largest educational technology event held in London on a yearly basis. Visitors will find in BETT products and suppliers, and discover the latest ways to use technology for teaching and learning. This year and for 4 days, starting January 13th, the BETT show will include seminars and forums.
Special zones are planned such as the special needs zone, the software zone, the playful learning zone, the future learning spaces and the training zone.
BETT was first launched as the “Hi Technology and Computers in Education Exhibition” in January 1985. It changed its name to BETT (British Education and Training Technology) a couple of years after that. In recent years the individual words that make up the BETT acronym have been dropped, and the event is now simply known as BETT.
The event originally featured 112 stands and took place in two halls at the Barbican Exhibition Centre, London EC2. It moved from the Barbican to the National Hall, Olympia in 1993 and was held in the Grand Hall for the first time in 1999.
2009 marks BETT’s 25th year – the event now spans both the National and the Grand Halls at Olympia, featuring almost 700 stands and almost 29,000 visitors.
During this event, organisers planned an awards ceremony. The BETT Awards is an annual scheme that highlights exemplar digital products intended for the education marketplace. The BETT Awards is produced by Emap Connect, the organisers of the largest educational technology show in the world – BETT. The BETT Awards is made possible by working in association with Becta, the UK’s lead agency for ICT in education, and BESA, the trade association representing the educational supply industry.
