AFDB and Microsoft Partnership
A Microsoft delegation on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, concluded a two-day working visit to the Afri
can Development Bank Group based in Tunisia. The visit served as an opportunity for both parties to agree on concrete areas of cooperation on ICTin the fields of health, education, public administration and governance. Countries targeted include Nigeria, Senega
l, Angola and Kenya.
Microsoft is interested in working with the Bank Group on best practices implementation and providing innovative capacity building solutions for the institution’s regional member countries. Cooperation between both institutions focuses on the use of technology in the following fields: advancing e-government; ICT institutional capacity building; business capacity building; education and e-learning; ICT skills development, and enhancing technology access. The delegation met with several Bank Group departments. The Bank Group and Microsoft Africa signed a memorandum of understanding in July 2008.
